Job Description:

The CJC Specialist assists in the technical functions and scheduling of the Criminal Justice Coordination Department, facilitates and coordinates daily activities between the El Paso County Criminal Justice Department and key justice stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares list and chains of inmates scheduled for transfer, as directed;
  • Prepares legal documents including arrest warrants, as directed;
  • Reviews and files legal instruments and maintains integrity of records;
  • Prepares case files for court presentation;
  • Attends court hearings to record and process judicial orders, as directed;
  • Assists and responds to requests for information on cases from staff and the public in person;
  • Performs a wide variety of duties including sorting, filing, copying, verifying, and recording information on records;
  • Complete CJC data entry for all divisions and other information into the computer;
  • Researches court docket to determine status of each defendant;
  • As directed assists officers in the Satellite Booking process;

Job Requirements:

  • Must have or obtain by date of hire Texas driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso.
  • High school graduation, or its equivalent, plus at least one (1) year of office or clerical experience; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • National Crime Index Computer (NCIC)/Texas Crime Computer Index Computer (TCIC) certification; Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
  • Knowledge of court processes and procedures, legal terminology
  • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation and office methods, procedures and equipment including filing systems.
  • Perform word processing and data entry
  • Perform routine clerical work including maintenance of appropriate records and preparations of general reports
  • Verify and cross check files and data
  • Understand and carry out both oral and written directions
  • Perform simple mathematical calculations
