South African Medical Research Council Jobs – Technician Fieldworker

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

• Adhering to study-specific standard operating procedures as well as MRC rules and policies
• Screening and recruiting pregnant and breastfeeding women in selected health facilities
• Enrolling eligible women for study participation
• Conduct field QC checks on collected data
• Compiling weekly reports and updates
• Complete and update participant locator and contact details
• Conducting face-to-face interviews with eligible participants and extract data from health facility documents
• Liaising with Study Coordinator, Research Assistant, and health facility staff for efficient data collection
• Capture and collect data whilst maintaining quality control, in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Principles
• Ensure participant retention by maintaining a daily and weekly tracking log of the data collection and update the participant contact details regularly
• Ensure that data collection suppliers are adequate
• Complete weekly and biweekly report.
• Assist in providing information to relevant managers for report writing and provide required weekly/monthly individual reports
• Assist with re-imbursement of participants

Job Requirements:

• Grade 12/ Matric or similar relevant qualification or higher
• 2 years Fieldwork experience in maternal and child health research
• 2 years’ experience in conducting interviews in maternal and child health research
• 2 years data collection experience in maternal and child health research
• Experience with quality control of data collected
• Time management and planning and reporting skills
• Fluent in English and Zulu
• Code 08 manual driver’s license as the incumbent will be required to drive a company vehicle
